| We live in a society obsessed with the material and ideal but terrified of true, gritty physicality; but as glossy and dynamic and wired (or wireless) as our lives have become we cannot escape the moments of slow, dirty, tactile life. I employ subjects that are in some way rooted in this unavoidable physicality. I don’t wish to represent anything particularly remarkable, but rather to unearth the existence of the divine and beautiful in the mundane and defiled. I strive to achieve this balance of spiritual and physical stylistically as well as subjectively. I work towards a style that is both painterly and expressive but also articulate and descriptive of my subject. I hope to achieve a realism that leaves cracks and spaces through which the intangible and mystical can creep.
